Best Way to Set Up your Homepage Hero Area for Conversions

There are many ways to set up the homepage hero area of your website. This area is considered the most important part of your website. This is the first thing a user (usually) sees when they visit your website.

Start with the left side or the copy first. The image should be chosen once the copy is ready. The copy is what sells.

Notes

  • Keep it simple
  • Don’t want to overstimulate the user

#1. Social Proof

This area is where you can add how many reviews you have or satisfied customers. You can also hide this area and display the headlines + CTA buttons.

#2. Convincing Headline

What problem are you solving? Test different headlines for which one performs best.

“Turn” – action
“missed calls” – the problem
“valuable customers” – desired outcome

#3. More information about the headline

Clarify and explain the headline. More detail into how you are solving the problem.

#4. Call to Action (CTA)

  • Try and match the button with the image
  • One button or two buttons
  • Testimonials/Reviews/More info Button
    • Proven by others
  • Risk free button
    • “Free Consultation”
    • “Try it for free”
    • “Contact Us”

You can also set the button area with only one button.

#5 Guide the Reader

Guide the reader down your copy to your CTA.

#6 Image / Display

Try not to just choose a random / useless image.

  • Emotional connection
  • Pick a visual to match the copy if possible
  • Try to show a person
    • User can identify with them
    • Have the image face the copy so the users eyes gaze towards the copy. Aka guide the user.
  • As mentioned in #4, try and match the image color (part of it) with the button
