When manually adding items to your menu in WordPress, sometimes you may be wondering why a certain page/post type/category is not available to select. This is pretty common and in a few easy steps you can add those missing items to your menu.

For example, you can see that “categories” is not showing as an option to add to the menu below.

In order to get these items to show, head over towards “screen options” and click the box. The box will expand and you should see something like below. If what you are looking for is missing (like categories for this example) click the checkbox.

Once clicked, you should see it available in the side area and you can now select the missing menu item.

Hidden menu items in WordPress can be very frustrating if you don’t know where or how to fix it. With the few simple steps above, you can have your menu displaying all the links you need.
